Skillsmatch is the result of cooperation between East African Community, the Inter-University Council of East Africa and the Federal Republic of Germany, commissioned by German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) Ltd. As part of the “Digital Skills for an Innovative East African Industry” project, Skillsmatch aims to promote the digital and innovative skills of young people in East Africa.

Skillsmatch is an online platform that is revolutionizing the East African job market by connecting students, universities and companies. The platform enables students to create skill profiles that are automatically matched with job offers using an AI-based algorithm. Similar to a dating app, users can view suitable matches and thus easily get in touch. Companies get direct digital access to promising talent, while universities can integrate their projects.
The challenge
To design an online platform that creates immediate added value in the region. The software needed to integrate a precise AI-based matching algorithm while ensuring a high level of data security. In addition to a meaningful brand identity, it was also necessary to create a user-friendly interface and establish a scalable infrastructure. It was also important to take cultural differences within the East African community into account.
Our solution
